Zcash Rally Hits 40%, Can It Reach $1,000 This Cycle?
Zcash has seen a significant price rally over the past week, gaining nearly 40% to reach around $675. This surge in value is attributed to several factors, including the breaking of resistance levels at $520 and $590, which attracted momentum traders and forced some short sellers to close their positions.
Interest in privacy-focused cryptocurrencies has also contributed to Zcash's recent success. Additionally, renewed institutional attention and a broader strength across the crypto market have given buyers more confidence. The rally has brought ZEC close to the $680-$700 resistance zone, an area that previously stopped the price from moving higher.
Grayscale is moving to convert its Zcash Trust into an ETF listed on NYSE Arca under the ticker $ZCSH. This filing also reveals that a DCG subsidiary is in nonbinding talks to acquire approximately 200,000 $ZEC (around $110M) through the fund.
Derivatives trading has played a significant role in Zcash's price movement, with futures volume reaching around $4.55 billion compared to about $553 million in spot volume. This imbalance shows that leveraged traders are heavily involved, which can push prices higher quickly but also make a pullback sharper if momentum changes.
On the two-hour chart, ZEC trades above all four major exponential moving averages, indicating a strong upward trend. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) has reached almost 86, suggesting that buyers still control the larger move.
Despite the rally, short-term momentum is starting to cool, with some indicators showing signs of slowing down. However, the five-minute chart remains positive, indicating that the rally has not broken down yet.
