Zcash Sees $81M in ZEC Flood into New Ironwood Pool on First Day

Zcash's new Ironwood pool has seen a significant influx of funds on its first day, with around $81 million in ZEC flowing into the network. This represents approximately 5% of Orchard's activation balance, which had held about 3.66 million ZEC before the upgrade activated and sealed the older pool due to a counterfeiting flaw that had remained undetected for four years.

The transfer has left Orchard with around 3.51 million ZEC, with its balance only able to decline as coins exit through the turnstile, an accounting mechanism that prevents more ZEC from leaving than was verifiably deposited.

The migration remains voluntary, allowing holders, wallets, and exchanges to move funds at their own pace. Around 46,000 ZEC crossed during the latest 24-hour period, indicating steady progress but no predictable timetable for completion.

As users migrate from Orchard to Ironwood, Zcash's new shielded pool is functioning as intended, attracting balances and demonstrating meaningful movement in the network's privacy infrastructure worldwide.
