Zcash Smashes $1,000 Barrier Amid Growing Privacy Coin Sector

Zcash has reached a new milestone by crossing $1,000 in liquid markets for the first time since its launch in 2016. This significant price increase comes just 10 days after Grayscale listed the first US spot Zcash ETF, $ZCSH, on NYSE Arca on August 25.

The clear catalyst for this move is regulated access, with Grayscale converting its Zcash Trust into a spot ETF. Zach Pandl, Head of Research at Grayscale, argued that as AI tools make financial surveillance easier, demand for genuine privacy should climb with it.

Not only is Zcash leading the charge, but the entire privacy-coin sector is seeing significant growth. According to Glassnode data, this sector is up 213% since its October 2025 peak and has a total market cap of $33.6 billion, with nearly half that growth landing in the last 30 days.

However, experts caution against comparing Zcash's price action to early Bitcoin due to its high volatility. The real test for Zcash is yet to come, as it faces a governance vote on September 14, which could extend or stall the current rally.
