Zcash Surges 22.65% as ETF Conversion, Mining News Drive Rally
Zcash (ZEC) has seen a significant surge of 22.65% in the last 12 hours, driven by a combination of factors including ETF conversion and mining news, a broader leveraged market rally, and technical breakout dynamics.
The recent Grayscale filing to list its Zcash Trust on NYSE Arca under ticker ZCSH has created a new narrative for ZEC. This is seen as a step toward a regulated, liquid ZEC vehicle for traditional brokerage accounts. A Digital Currency Group affiliate is in non-binding talks to acquire up to 200,000 ZEC via the trust once registration is effective.
Cypherpunk Technologies' acquisition of a Zcash mining fleet from Winklevoss Capital for $33.33 million further reinforces the idea that dedicated, well-funded operators are willing to commit capital and lock in exposure to ZEC. This comes on top of an already tight supply structure: hard-capped 21 million ZEC, a prior halving, and a significant share of coins held in shielded pools and long-term addresses.
The move is also part of a broader, highly leveraged crypto rally driven by macro liquidity expectations and regulatory headlines. Bitcoin has logged its largest weekly gain in roughly two years, with reports of several billion dollars of short liquidations across the market. ZEC has broken key resistance zones around $520 and $590, pulling in momentum traders and forcing shorts to cover.
