Zcash Surges Past $1,000 Following Spot ETF Launch
On September 4, 2026, Zcash (ZEC) crossed the $1,000 mark for the first time on Coinbase. This milestone comes after a spot ETF was launched by Grayscale on NYSE Arca under the ticker ZCSH in August 2026.
The ETF listing was accompanied by the closure of an SEC probe into the Zcash Foundation without any enforcement action being taken. The agency's posture has shifted from broad hostility to case-by-case assessment, allowing assets with clear supply schedules and established networks to pass through the regulatory gate.
Monero, another major privacy coin, remains absent from virtually every US exchange due to unresolved enforcement actions against its ecosystem. This creates a two-tier system among privacy coins: Zcash on one side with institutional access, and Monero on the other without it.
