Zcash Surges Past $800 Amid Grayscale ETF Hype
Zcash's price surged to $858.62 after months of building pressure beneath resistance. The cryptocurrency spent time between a floor of $364.24 and a ceiling of $560, gradually increasing demand before breaking through the $680 barrier with little consolidation.
Aggressive buying pushed ZEC's price upward, exposing an overhead liquidity gap that allowed for further gains to $858.62. However, sellers eventually responded by placing limit orders, pulling the price back down toward $760 and creating a large upper wick.
The rapid advance was driven in part by Grayscale's announcement to convert the Zcash Trust into a spot ETF, which increased trading activity and speculative positioning. The derivatives market saw significant growth, with futures turnover reaching $5.77 billion and Open Interest (OI) growing to approximately $1.8 billion.
The rally also outpaced social attention, with public awareness of ZEC lagging behind the price increase. Trading momentum increased with Grayscale's ETF announcement, but broader discussion remained limited, with only 138 mentions on August 21st compared to 1,116 before the June bottom.
