Zcash Surges Past Bitcoin to Nine-Year High Amid Growing Mining Demand
Zcash's price surged to a nine-year high near $1,155 on Saturday, outperforming Bitcoin and other large-cap cryptocurrencies. This significant increase in value is attributed to the growing popularity of Grayscale's Zcash ETP, which has attracted $179 million in just 11 trading days.
The total asset under management for the fund reached nearly $700 million, supporting the surge in ZEC's price. Zcash gained 14% this week, surpassing Bitcoin's one-week gain. Grayscale noted that mining ZEC is currently more profitable than mining Bitcoin per megawatt-hour, driving up demand.
The rally marked a third consecutive weekly gain for Zcash, with its price roughly doubling since mid-August 2025. However, it remains 11% below the week's intraday high of around $13,000 and was down 2.51% in the past 24 hours.
