Zcash Surges to 8-Year High but Analyst Warns of Imminent Crash
Zcash (ZEC) has surged to an 8-year high, surpassing $880 on August 23, according to CoinGecko. The cryptocurrency's price increase of nearly 65% over the past week makes it one of the top performers in the top 100 cryptocurrencies.
The rally is attributed to various factors, including changes in US monetary policy and a recent announcement by Grayscale regarding a potential Zcash Trust ETF product launch on August 25.
However, not all analysts are optimistic about ZEC's future. Crypto with Harris ₿ warned that the real value of ZEC lies below $500, referencing its critical vulnerability earlier this year that led to a massive price collapse and prompting prominent industry figures like Arthur Hayes to sell their positions in the coin.
The analyst also pointed out that ZEC's current price is well above its daily averages and even the upper Bollinger Band, indicating an 'extremely stretched' move. They emphasized that ZEC's chart should be viewed critically, warning against influencers projecting rallies beyond $2,000.
