Zcash Surges to New Heights as Momentum Traders Take Hold
Zcash has seen a significant surge in price over the past week, rising nearly 40% to around $675. This rally comes on the back of several factors, including strong momentum and renewed institutional attention.
The breakouts above resistance levels at $520 and $590 have attracted momentum traders and forced some traders betting against ZEC to close their positions. Additionally, interest in privacy-focused cryptocurrencies has also contributed to the price increase.
However, derivatives trading played a large role in the recent price action, with ZEC futures volume reaching roughly $4.55 billion compared to about $553 million in spot volume. This imbalance shows that leveraged traders are heavily involved, which can push prices higher quickly but also make a pullback sharper if momentum changes.
The two-hour chart indicates that ZEC trades well above all four major exponential moving averages, confirming a strong upward trend. However, the Relative Strength Index has reached almost 86, well above the level commonly considered overbought, suggesting that a pullback may be imminent.
