Zcash Verifies Balance Integrity in Ironwood Shielded Pool
Zcash has announced that its Ironwood proof rules out undetectable counterfeiting bugs in the network's new shielded pool.
The researchers published over 2,700 machine-checked theorems to confirm this, which took three teams of experts a month to complete. The proof covers the components needed for balance integrity, ensuring that Ironwood cannot pay out more value than has entered it publicly.
This work is part of Zcash's NU6.3 upgrade, introduced in response to a vulnerability discovered in its Orchard shielded pool that could have enabled undetectable ZEC counterfeiting. The new pool aims to restore confidence in Zcash's supply integrity.
