$ZEC Mining Pool Launch to Redistribute Concentration Among Zcash Miners
Foundry Digital, a subsidiary of Digital Currency Group and operator of the largest Bitcoin mining pool globally by hash rate, is set to launch an institutional $ZEC mining pool in April 2026. This marks the firm's first expansion beyond Bitcoin mining and its entry into the privacy-focused cryptocurrency space.
The new pool will cater specifically to institutional miners and publicly traded companies that currently lack compliant infrastructure for mining Zcash. Foundry says it has designed a U.S.-based, compliant framework that includes Know Your Customer and Anti-Money Laundering checks, transparent payout calculations, reporting tools, and round-the-clock technical support.
Foundry CEO Mike Colyer stated that while Zcash has 'matured into an institutional-grade asset,' the mining infrastructure supporting it hasn't kept pace. He emphasized that this decision was driven by a gap in compliant infrastructure rather than any deterioration in the firm's Bitcoin mining business, which remains its 'core foundation.'
The pool will utilize hardware incompatible with Bitcoin mining, as Zcash and Bitcoin use fundamentally different proof-of-work algorithms.
