Zeus Wallet Halts Operations After Security Breach, User Funds Secure
Zeus Wallet suspended operations on August 5, 2026, following a security breach that was detected within hours. According to founder Evan Kaloudis, no user assets were compromised or endangered.
The company's self-custodial architecture played a critical role in protecting user funds throughout the incident. Investigators found no exploitable vulnerabilities within the Bitcoin Lightning Network node infrastructure itself.
A subset of users experienced the closure of their Lightning Service Provider channels as a result of the service interruption. Zeus has committed to providing replacement channels for these users once operations are restored and customer requests can be addressed.
