Zimbabwe Approves Fintech Sandbox Cohort with Tokenization Focus
Zimbabwe's Securities and Exchange Commission (SECZ) has approved seven fintech projects to join its regulatory sandbox, with tokenization being a major focus. The approved projects include Zimbabwe Entrepreneurship Exchange, Ndarama Standard, Questview Brokers, Crowdaxe Capital, Procode Platforms, Financial Securities Exchange (FINSEC), and Colmin Resources Zimbabwe.
The sandbox allows these projects to undergo controlled testing under regulatory supervision. While successful completion of the testing does not guarantee full-scale registration, it's a significant step forward for these fintech companies. The tokenization-heavy cohort reflects growing interest in using blockchain-based instruments to broaden access to capital markets and bring assets that may otherwise be difficult to trade into regulated investment structures.
Tokenization involves converting traditional assets like real estate or securities into digital tokens, making them easily tradable on the blockchain. This innovation has gained traction globally, and Zimbabwe is no exception.
