Zondacrypto Probe Expands Amid $2.1M Misappropriation Charges
Polish prosecutors have expanded their investigation into Zondacrypto, charging an individual named Romana Ż. with participating in an organized criminal group and allegedly misappropriating 7.8 million zlotys ($2.1 million) in user funds.
The suspect was detained on September 5 and denied the charges during questioning by prosecutors. Three others were previously charged in the investigation, accused of money laundering, misappropriation of company assets, and participation in an organized criminal group.
The investigation merged with a probe into the disappearance of Sylwester Suszek, founder of BitBay (later renamed Zondacrypto), in 2022. Prosecutors estimate losses connected to Zondacrypto at no less than 350 million zlotys.
