$103M Tariff Relief Package Unveiled in Manitoba
The Manitoba government is investing $103 million to help industries affected by US tariffs. The funding will be distributed across various programs, including a new trade resilience loan program with $50 million in financing for low-interest, repayable working capital.
Provincial Minister of Business, Mining, Trade and Job Creation Jamie Moses stated that the Donald Trump tariffs have been an 'unwarranted attack on our Canadian economy.' He emphasized that the initiatives are designed to ensure Manitoba's economy can weather the storm and become stronger.
The province is also establishing a tariff workforce stabilization program, doubling its export support program, and adding funds to its youth employment program. Additionally, $500,000 will be allocated to expand the Made-In-Manitoba initiative, supporting Canadian manufacturers and exporters.
Manitoba alcohol producers will receive $500,000 in funding to promote local beverages. The province is also offering retail tax deferrals for tariff-affected businesses through Manitoba's Department of Finance.
