$125K NZ Government Boosts Pasifika Youth Employment
The New Zealand government has announced a new partnership aimed at boosting employment pathways for Pasifika youth. The $125,000 investment will support Pasifika Festivals Aotearoa's Pasifika Youth Producers Programme.
Creative New Zealand is matching the investment dollar-for-dollar, and 32 young people will participate in the 16-week programme. Two pathways are available: one for 18- to 24-year-olds who will receive paid festival placements, industry mentoring, and employability training; and another for 12- to 17-year-olds who will focus on leadership skill workshops and building positive engagement in education.
Youth Minister James Meager emphasized the programme's potential to help young Pasifika people build skills and confidence. The initiative combines culture, creativity, and practical experience, making it an effective launchpad for future careers.
