$29.6B Loan Fuels ByteDance's AI Ambitions Amid Industry Competition
ByteDance, the developer of TikTok, has finalized a $29.6 billion loan, making it the second-largest US dollar-denominated syndicated loan in Asia this year.
The loan was originally planned to be $20 billion, but ByteDance increased it after receiving enthusiastic commitments from major banks such as Citi and JPMorgan Chase, which are coordinating the loan.
The funds will be used for general corporate operating purposes, but there is speculation that a significant portion will be invested in artificial intelligence (AI) research and development.
