42K Jobs Lost as Canada's Economy Slows
Canada's economy took a hit in August, shedding 42,000 jobs according to Statistics Canada. The unemployment rate remained unchanged at 6.4 per cent.
The job losses were spread across several sectors, including natural resources, utilities and business, building and other support services.
Regionally, Quebec was the hardest hit, losing 19,000 jobs, followed closely by Ontario with a loss of 18,000 jobs.
