$63M Funding Boosts Startale's Tokenized Finance Ambitions in Japan
Startale Group has secured $63 million in Series A funding to develop Japan's tokenized finance stack. The Singapore-based company will use this capital to accelerate the adoption of tokenized Japanese equities and expand yen stablecoin use.
The round, which brings together Startale's two largest strategic partners under a single capital raise, includes a second close of $50 million from SBI Group. This adds to the initial close of $13 million from Sony Innovation Fund in January.
Startale's core offerings include Strium, a layer-1 blockchain designed for tokenized securities and real-world asset settlement, as well as Japanese yen stablecoin JPYSC, dollar stablecoin USDSC, and a consumer-facing app connected to Sony's Soneium network.
The company plans to evolve its existing app into a SuperApp that combines payments, asset management, and on-chain services in one platform. This expansion is part of Japan's ongoing efforts to integrate blockchain infrastructure with conventional financial systems.
