ABN AMRO, one of Europe's leading banks, has joined forces with nine other major financial institutions to launch the Regulated Layer One (RL1) blockchain cooperative. This initiative aims to integrate blockchain technology into the traditional banking sector and provide a shared infrastructure for institutional tokenization and capital market operations.

Headquartered in Luxembourg, RL1 is designed to ensure equal governance among its founding members, including DekaBank and Natixis CIB. With over €700 million processed across more than 50 transactions, RL1 has demonstrated its capabilities in enhancing efficiency and transparency in digital finance.

The cooperative's formation marks a significant shift from isolated banking pilots to a collaborative framework that supports broader European Central Bank initiatives. As the RL1 blockchain cooperative continues to develop its operational framework and governance, industry observers will be watching closely for any changes in market integration and adoption.
