Aims Games Brings Economic Boost to Bay of Plenty
The Zespri Aims Games is one of the largest sporting events in New Zealand, attracting nearly 30,000 people to Tauranga each spring. With over 14,500 athletes from 467 schools across New Zealand and overseas registered for the 2026 event, organizers say it's bigger than the Olympics.
The tournament has grown into more than just a sporting competition, with an estimated $9 million boost to the Bay of Plenty economy each year. Kelly Schischka, the organizer behind the games, said 'It belongs here.'
The Zespri Aims Games is not only a significant economic contributor but also a showcase for the region's sports infrastructure and community spirit.
