Air Canada Introduces Basic Fare Options for Premium Economy and Business Class

Air Canada has introduced two new fare categories for its premium economy and business class passengers. The airline is offering 'Basic' fares in both cabins, which provide all the benefits of traveling in premium cabins, including meals, entertainment, priority boarding, and baggage allowance.

The main differences between Basic fares and regular premium tickets are that they are non-refundable and any changes will incur fees. Seat selection also comes at an additional cost. Basic Premium Economy customers do not get lounge access, but those in Basic Business Class can use the airline's Maple Leaf lounges with some exceptions.

Air Canada has specified that Aeroplan benefits for elite status members, Star Alliance Gold members, and Aeroplan premium credit cardholders will still apply to both Basic Premium Economy and Basic Business fares. Passengers on these fares earn one Aeroplan point per dollar spent on the base fare and carrier-imposed surcharges.
