Air Canada Launches Basic Fares for Premium Economy and Business Class
Air Canada has introduced Basic fares for premium economy and business class on select international routes. These lower-priced options are now available as of July 28, 2026, on transatlantic joint venture routes and some Latin American and Caribbean destinations.
The new Basic fares remove refunds, free seat selection, and extra baggage but retain core services such as the same seat, meal, and priority services. Passengers will need to pay for seat selection and may incur additional costs if they need to make changes or add extra bags.
Aeroplan Elite members and credit cardholders may find fewer trade-offs since lounge and baggage benefits are already covered. The new fares target travelers with fixed plans who prioritize cost over flexibility, especially those pursuing Aeroplan status without needing upgrades.
