Air Canada Unveils Largest International Expansion in History for Summer 2027
Air Canada has announced its most extensive intercontinental expansion in history for summer 2027. The airline will add five new international destinations and seven new routes, increasing frequencies on selected services year-round.
The expansion forms part of Air Canada's long-term growth strategy, which is expected to create over 1,500 additional direct jobs by 2028 and increase the airline's contribution to Canada's GDP by more than $7 billion annually.
Air Canada will operate non-stop service between Vancouver and Guangzhou, China; Toronto and Oslo, Norway; Shannon, Ireland; Nice, France; Basel, Switzerland; and Dubrovnik, Croatia. The airline will also resume its London Heathrow Daytripper service, increase Shanghai service to daily, and operate its new Guatemala City service year-round.
The routes will be operated with a mix of Airbus A321XLR and Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, featuring Air Canada Signature, Premium Economy, and Economy cabins. The expansion is expected to connect at each hub with destinations across North America.
