Alberta Agriculture Shines as Food Day Canada Nears

Alberta's agricultural industry is being celebrated across Canada as Food Day Canada approaches on August 1. In a statement, Alberta's Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Tara Sawyer highlighted the importance of agriculture in the province's economy.

Agriculture remains a cornerstone of Alberta's economy, supporting jobs, communities, and economic growth across the province, according to Sawyer. The minister noted that Alberta is Canada's largest producer of beef, honey, and processed potatoes, as well as the country's second-largest producer of canola and wheat.

Sawyer emphasized that agriculture is not only a key contributor to the economy but also plays a significant role in strengthening rural and urban communities. She encouraged Albertans to support local food businesses and products by visiting farmers markets or dining at restaurants featuring Alberta ingredients.
