Alberta's Economic Boom Leaves Rest of Canada Behind

Canada's economic landscape has been vastly different from one province to another. Alberta stands out as a beacon of hope for other Canadians, having left every other part behind in terms of growing its economy and creating jobs.

Statistics show that since last year, the province's population has grown by almost 50,000 people, with over 90,000 new jobs created. Economic activity is up 4.3%, real GDP has risen 2.7%, merchandise exports are up 46%, and retail sales have increased by nearly 10%.

Alberta's economy is so strong that the previously estimated budget deficit of $9.4 billion is on its way to being reversed, thanks to high energy prices and record oil exports. At the current rate, the provincial treasury could see a surplus of at least $10 billion by March 2024.

No other province comes close to this economic performance. People are leaving Ontario, B.C., and Quebec for Alberta in droves, with the province on track to pass B.C. and become Canada's third-largest by 2038.
