Alphabet, the parent company of Google, has successfully raised A$5.5 billion through its inaugural Australian dollar bond issuance.

The tech giant issued four tranches with varying maturities: 3-, 5-, 10- and 20-year bonds, with a coupon rate of 6.9% on the longest tenor bond tranche.

Bids from investors exceeded A$18 billion, underscoring strong demand for tech company debt offerings.

This move marks Alphabet's entry into the Australian dollar debt market and makes it the first U.S. large-cap tech company to issue a 'Kangaroo' bond since Apple in 2016.
