Amazon Sets New Canadian Bond Record Amid Cloud Computing Spending Plans
Amazon.com Inc. has sold C$14 billion in investment-grade bonds in Canada, marking the largest corporate bond offering on record in Canadian dollars.
The sale attracted approximately C$28 billion in orders from investors, according to Bloomberg News citing people with direct knowledge of the matter.
The company launched the sale of senior unsecured notes across five tranches, with maturities ranging from three to 30 years. The yield on the longest tranche is expected to be 1.10 percentage points above government bonds, approximately 0.05 percentage points lower than initially discussed levels.
Amazon is expected to spend around $200 billion this year on data centers, chips and other infrastructure related to cloud computing and artificial intelligence. The company has borrowed more than $70 billion since the start of 2025, including debt sales in euros and Swiss francs.
