Amazon's Sterling Bond Sale Raises £4.25 Billion Amid Hyperscaler Debt Boom
Amazon's first-ever sterling bond sale has raised £4.25 billion ($5.76 billion), exceeding initial expectations by a small margin, according to a lead manager.
The deal is part of a trend among hyperscalers to diversify their funding sources and finance the AI boom, with more than $200 billion in debt issued this year alone.
Amazon received £10.65 billion in final demand for the four-part deal, slightly lower than the £12 billion it saw before lead banks tightened pricing.
The company will raise £1.25 billion from a three-year bond sale and £1 billion each from six-, 12- and 19-year bonds, priced with yields ranging from around 5.2% to 6.7%.
Amazon has added sterling to its funding programme after tapping the euro, Swiss franc, and Canadian dollar bond markets.
