Arizona Recovers $171K for Crypto ATM Scam Victims Under New Law
Arizona has successfully recovered $171,332 for 35 victims of crypto ATM scams since the state's Cryptocurrency Kiosk License Fraud Prevention law took effect on September 26, 2025. The law allows crypto ATMs to continue operating but imposes transaction limits and fraud-monitoring requirements.
Under the law, new customers who have been with an operator for fewer than 10 days are limited to $2,000 in transactions per day, while existing customers face a $10,500 daily ceiling. Operators must also maintain 24-hour customer service and use blockchain analytics software to stop transfers to wallets associated with fraud.
Attorney General Kris Mayes said that her office has helped obtain the refunds since the law took effect. She urged victims to report suspected fraud immediately, warning that missing the 30-day deadline could mean losing eligibility for reimbursement.
