Asian Markets Mixed as Tech Firms Rally Ahead of Crucial Inflation Data
Tech companies have gained momentum in Asian markets this week despite mixed results overall. This rally comes ahead of crucial events, including US inflation data that will influence the Federal Reserve's decision on interest rates.
The tech sector has been driven by gains from chipmakers in Seoul and Tokyo. South Korea's Samsung and SK hynix have increased four and six percent respectively, while Japan-based Kioxia, Tokyo Electron, and Advantest rallied between five to seven point five percent.
This growth comes despite a recent jobs report showing the US economy created more jobs than expected in August, which has fueled bets on tighter monetary policy from the Fed. The release of US inflation data this Friday will be key in determining whether the central bank hikes rates next week or maintains current levels.
