Asian Markets Slide as Oil Prices Ease, Dollar Surges Against Yen
Asian markets mostly declined on Tuesday following a rally in US stocks that was fueled by decreasing oil prices.
The Nikkei 225, Japan's benchmark index, rose 0.3% to close at 63,957.53, while the US dollar increased to 157.70 Japanese yen from 157.18 yen.
Regional investors are still weighing the impact of last week's joint U.S.-Japan currency intervention, according to analysts.
Matthew Ryan, head of market strategy at Ebury, noted that the latest effort could have some effect because it appears to signal a genuine change in monetary policy rather than just a one-time defensive move.
