Asian Shares Bounce Back as US Economy Report Falls Short
The Asian stock market saw mostly higher shares on Monday after US stocks edged back from their all-time high following a weaker-than-expected report on the US economy.
The Tokyo Nikkei 225 index gained 0.3% to 68,929.33 after Japan's government reported the economy grew slightly faster than forecast in the April-June quarter.
In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng picked up 1.6%, while the Shanghai Composite index rose 0.8%.
The US Federal Reserve has been closely watching inflation and economic growth, and a slower-than-expected economy could keep interest rates low, benefiting investors.
