Asian Stocks Mixed as Nvidia Earnings Boost US Futures

The Asian stock markets showed mixed results on Thursday following losses on Wall Street. Despite this, U.S. futures were trading higher after Nvidia's quarterly earnings exceeded expectations due to increased demand for its advanced artificial intelligence chips.

In Japan, the Nikkei 225 slipped by 0.2% to 66,162.72. However, SoftBank Group, which invests in OpenAI, gained 0.1%. In contrast, South Korea's Kospi rose by 1.5% to 6,909.81, with Samsung Electronics shares increasing by 2%.

The Shanghai Composite index rose by 0.6% to 3,935.99 after China reported a slowdown in industrial profits growth to 11.2% in July from 15.1% in June. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 fell by 0.9% to 9,041.70, while India's Sensex edged down by 0.1%.

The U.S. economy grew at a 1.5% pace in the April-June period, according to a revised estimate. The inflation measure preferred by the Federal Reserve sat at 3.7%, slightly worse than expected. Brent crude lost 0.5% to $86.49 per barrel.
