Asian stocks saw significant gains on July 30, 2026, driven by a resurgence in chip shares that revived confidence in the artificial intelligence trade. The yen also held onto its recent gains after authorities intervened to stabilize the nation's sagging currency.

The South Korea Kospi Index, an indicator of AI investments, surged over 14% and rebounded from a three-day selloff. Chip majors SK Hynix Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co. led the rally with substantial gains.

With shares in Japan also increasing, the regional MSCI Asia Pacific gauge climbed for a second consecutive day. The yen's stability was attributed to authorities' efforts to prop up the currency, which had been experiencing declines.
