At Par Promotion Draws Record Number of Canadians to Downtown Las Vegas
Las Vegas casino operators have found a way to mitigate the impact of trade tensions on Canadian tourism. Derek Stevens, co-owner of the D Las Vegas, Golden Gate Hotel & Casino, and Circa Resort & Casino, launched the At Par program in January. The initiative offered $1 in value for every Canadian dollar spent, effectively shielding guests from exchange rate fluctuations.
The promotion attracted over 120,000 visitors to downtown Las Vegas between January and August. Cliff Atkinson, CEO and president of the Fremont Street Experience, confirmed that the program had a significant impact on downtown visitation during the traditionally slow summer season.
Stevens stated in an August 31 video that many nights on Fremont Street felt taken over by Canadians. The success of the promotion was attributed to its currency-neutral approach, which integrated with diversified entertainment and safety infrastructure. Atkinson described Fremont Street as the safest in America, with 99 percent of visitors seeking a good time.
