Auckland Unveils 10-Year Plan to Boost Cruise Industry
The city of Auckland has launched its 10-year plan to strengthen its position as New Zealand's leading cruise hub. The Auckland Cruise Plan 2026-2036 is a roadmap to grow high-value cruise visitation through coordinated investment, stronger partnerships, and an enhanced visitor experience.
Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown emphasized the importance of cruise tourism in the region's economy and international reputation. 'Cruise brings visitors, spending, and jobs to Auckland,' he said. 'We want to make sure the region remains an attractive place for cruise lines to invest.'
The plan focuses on attracting higher-value cruise activity, including more turnaround calls, longer stays, increased winter deployment, and stronger connections between cruise, aviation, and tourism.
