AUD Gains Capped by RBA's Cautious Stance
The Australian Dollar's gains against the US Dollar are expected to remain limited due to the Reserve Bank of Australia's (RBA) cautious approach to policy normalization. According to Societe Generale, while commodity prices and a resilient domestic economy have provided some support for the AUD, the RBA's steady cash rate indicates that it is in no hurry to tighten further.
This contrasts with the US Federal Reserve's more data-dependent stance, which has led to higher interest rates in the US. As a result, the interest rate differential between Australia and the US remains a key driver of currency fluctuations, favoring the US Dollar.
The technical levels for AUD/USD are also significant, with resistance around 0.6600 and support near 0.6450. A break above or below these levels could signal a new trend, but the current range-bound trading suggests a lack of strong directional momentum.
