AUD Holds Steady as China's PMI Data Offers No New Catalysts
The Australian Dollar (AUD) remained steady against the US Dollar (USD) on Thursday following China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) data release. The figures showed a modest expansion in factory activity, but services and construction sectors lost some momentum.
China's official manufacturing PMI stood at 50.3 in November, slightly above the forecasted 50.2, while the non-manufacturing PMI eased to 50.0 from 50.2. The composite PMI remained unchanged at 50.8.
The AUD/USD pair hovered around 0.6650 during the Asian session, with traders appearing to have priced in the numbers. Market attention shifted to upcoming US economic releases and the Reserve Bank of Australia's (RBA) policy stance.
