AUD/INR Soars on India Policy Shift and Dollar Weakness
The Australian dollar against the Indian rupee (AUD/INR) is trading higher today, up 0.55% at ₹68.4957.
This uptrend is confirmed by the pair being above its key moving averages, indicating sustained momentum in both the short and medium terms.
A recent policy shift in India has granted exporters the ability to invoice and receive payments in rupees, effectively giving them the same status as foreign-currency transactions for trade benefits. This change broadens regulatory acceptance of the Indian rupee in international trade, potentially increasing rupee-denominated cross-border settlements and impacting liquidity dynamics for the AUD/INR pair.
The US Treasury's decision to step up buybacks of longer-dated Treasury bonds has led to US dollar weakness, further strengthening the Indian rupee against the dollar. Technical analysis reveals that AUD/INR is trading above the MA-20 and MA-50, with ample distance over the long-term MA-200. Immediate support is noted at the Ichimoku Kijun level of ₹68.2315.
