AUD/JPY Soars to 114.25 Amid Strong Employment Report
The AUD/JPY cross surged to near 114.25 during early European trading hours on Friday, buoyed by a strong Australian employment report for June.
Australia's unemployment rate remained at 4.4% in June, as expected, while the Employment Change rose to 76.3K from 44K (revised from 40.3K) in May, surpassing forecasts of a 15K increase.
The Australian Dollar strengthened against the Japanese Yen on these positive employment numbers, but concerns about potential currency intervention from Japanese authorities could limit the cross's upside.
Japan's Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama stated that officials are prepared to take decisive steps in response to currency shifts whenever necessary.
