AUD Price Forecast: Cautious Optimism Despite Persistent Concerns
The Australian Dollar's price forecast is looking positive, but there are no guarantees of immediate gains. The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has maintained a cautious stance, and while domestic fundamentals remain relatively solid, there are concerns about inflation and the US dollar's persistent demand.
Australia's economic growth slowed to 0.3% QoQ in January-March, but annual growth held steady at 2.5%. The RBA predicts modest growth, with GDP expected to reach 1.4% in Q4 2026, 1.6% in Q4 2027, and 1.8% in Q4 2028.
Headline inflation eased to 3.9% in the second quarter, but underlying price pressures remain a concern. The RBA's Governor Michele Bullock warned that further tightening could still be required if inflation proves more persistent than expected.
The Australian Dollar's speculative sentiment has weakened again, with net shorts widening to around 39.2K contracts. However, the overall selling trend has stabilized, and investors remain firmly negative on the AUD.
