AUD Steadies as Hawkish RBA Minutes Meet Softening USD
The Australian Dollar has stabilized following the release of hawkish Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) minutes. The minutes from the RBA's latest policy meeting signaled a possibility of further interest rate hikes due to persistent inflationary pressures.
The board emphasized that policy would need to remain restrictive until there is clear evidence that inflation returns to the target range. This hawkish tone reinforced market expectations that the RBA is not done tightening, supporting the Australian Dollar.
Additionally, a softer US Dollar provided further support for the currency pair. The US Dollar softened across the board due to expectations that the Federal Reserve may be nearing the end of its own tightening cycle.
