AUD Surges to Four-Month High Amid RBA's Hawkish Inflation Warning
The Australian dollar has reached a four-month high against the US dollar and euro due to the Reserve Bank of Australia's (RBA) hawkish stance on inflation. The AUD rose to $US72.33 on Wednesday, its highest level since mid-May.
This surge in the Aussie dollar comes despite escalating violence in the Middle East, which would typically weigh on currency values. The RBA's warning about inflation has instead pushed investors towards the AUD, making it more attractive as a safe-haven asset.
The local currency also hit 62.16¢ against the euro, its highest level since 2024. Against the Kiwi, the AUD is near a 13-year high of $NZ1.23.
