AUD Under Pressure as Hawkish RBA Warnings Meet US Dollar Rebound
The Australian dollar is under pressure against the US dollar today, trading at $0.7165.
This modest pullback comes despite initial support from hawkish inflation warnings by Reserve Bank of Australia officials, which increased expectations for near-term policy tightening.
However, a US Treasury buyback announcement and rebounding treasury yields led to the AUD/USD pair stabilizing and then edging lower as traders awaited US inflation data.
The technical indicators are bearish, with the AUD/USD trading below its key short- and medium-term moving averages, while still maintaining some support from longer-term levels.
