AUD/USD Stabilizes Amid US Treasury Yield Surge
The Australian Dollar has stabilized after hitting a four-month high against the US Dollar on Wednesday. The AUD/USD exchange rate lost momentum and settled around 0.7220, following the US Dollar's rebound.
The US Treasury yields have risen to support the Greenback, with the benchmark 10-year yield climbing to 4.85% and the 30-year yield reaching 5.30%. The increase in yields is attributed to the US Treasury Department's plan to buy back $6 billion of longer-term government debt.
The operation aimed to improve liquidity and support the smooth functioning of the US government bond market, but it had a mixed effect on yields. Higher yields make US fixed-income assets more attractive, providing support to the US Dollar.
Rising oil prices and tensions in the Middle East have limited the Australian Dollar's upside potential, keeping investor sentiment cautious.
