AUD/USD Stalls at 0.7000 Threshold as Market Analysts Wait for Clear Signal
The Australian Dollar (AUD/USD) is at a critical juncture as it hovers around the 0.7000 threshold, and market analysts are divided on its next move.
A break above this level would be a bullish signal, potentially leading to a target of 0.7200 or even 0.7280 in the medium term. However, repeated failures at 0.7000 have left the pair exposed to another rejection, which could push it back towards the 200-day Simple Moving Average (SMA) around 0.6900.
The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has maintained a cautious stance, with Governor Michele Bullock suggesting there is no immediate need for further rate hikes. However, markets still expect nearly 15 basis points of additional tightening by the end of the year.
Australia's domestic fundamentals remain relatively healthy, supported by firm demand and positive growth. The Unemployment Rate has held steady at 4.4%, while Employment Change jumped by 76.3K in June. However, inflation remains a concern, with underlying price pressures still uncomfortably high.
