AUD/USD Struggles to Break Free from Resistance
The Australian Dollar has been struggling to break free from its current resistance at 0.7200, according to recent analysis by FXStreet.
The AUD/USD pair is currently navigating close to the overbought zone, which carries the potential to trigger a technical correction. However, Australia's relatively solid domestic fundamentals and the RBA's hawkish stance are discouraging aggressive selling.
A convincing move beyond 0.7200, supported by firm Australian data or stronger expectations of another RBA rate increase, would strengthen the bullish scenario. The sizeable build-up of speculative AUD shorts could add fuel to the move if a confirmed breakout forces bearish traders to unwind their positions.
On the other hand, a sustainable retracement to the sub-0.7100 region amid USD strength or generalised weakness in market sentiment would bring sellers back into the market. The domestic backdrop remains relatively healthy, supported by firm demand, positive growth, and a resilient labour market.
