AUD/USD Surges to Ten-Week Highs Amid Broader Recovery
The Australian Dollar has made significant gains in recent weeks, pushing towards ten-week highs against the US Dollar. In the past eight weeks, the AUD/USD pair has risen nearly 4.5% from its June low, with daily momentum reaching its strongest levels since February.
This upward trajectory is attributed to the broader recovery of the Australian economy and the currency's ability to break through a major downtrend barrier in late July. As a result, the near-term technical structure remains constructive while prices hold above rising trend support.
However, the rally is now approaching a significant resistance confluence, which could potentially lead to near-term exhaustion. Key resistance levels are located at 7208/14 and 7258, with subsequent objectives at 7295 and the yearly high-close at 7280. Support levels are found at 7120 and 7023/36.
With key inflation data from Australia and the US scheduled for release next week, as well as the annual World Economic Policy Symposium in Jackson Hole, market volatility is expected to increase. Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's remarks on interest rate expectations could be particularly influential in shaping policy outlooks between the RBA and Fed.
