U.S. August employment data far exceeded market expectations, sparking concerns of a potential Federal Reserve rate hike in September.

The Department of Labor reported a nonfarm payroll increase of 162,000 in August, nearly three times the estimated 53,000 consensus, and the largest monthly gain in five months.

The unemployment rate remained steady at 4.1%, matching both prior month numbers and market expectations.

This strong jobs report sent shockwaves through financial markets, with the probability of a September rate hike surging to 58.4% according to CME Group's FedWatch tool, up from 49.4% the previous day.
